Pomerol

The Moueix family has specialized in the fine wines of Pomerol since 1937 and today owns and distributes many of the finest wines of the appellation.

Jean-Pierre Moueix Pomerol is a blend of second wines from the Jean-Pierre Moueix family vineyards and other noteworthy châteaux of the appellation.

Jean-Pierre Moueix Pomerol is a brilliant garnet red. On the nose, complex and harmonious notes of raspberries and blueberries emerge from a subtle backdrop of spice and smoke. The palate is refined and precise with the elegant, silky tannins so characteristic of Pomerol.

Pomerol

Jean-Pierre Moueix was drawn to Pomerol in 1937, when the region was virtually unknown, for the natural complexity displayed by the wines produced from these singular terroirs.

He foresaw the incredible potential of this land to make round, elegant, structured wines that were delicious young and, for the best terroirs, could be cellared for decades.

The distinctive quality of Pomerol is its geology, a mosaic of soil types that results in the complexity for which the wines of this jewel-sized appellation are famed: clay and gravel on the central plateau that culminates at 40 meters of altitude; and variations of gravel, sand and clay as the elevation declines.

These soils are ideally suited to the Merlot grape, which offers charm, approachability, rich fruit and an elegant tannic structure. A touch of Cabernet Franc brings a hint of spice and floral notes to the blend.

Personally selected by Christian and Edouard Moueix for its balance, elegance, and approachability, Jean-Pierre Moueix Pomerol offers an introduction to the philosophy behind the family estates.

A Family Legacy

When Jean-Pierre Moueix launched his wine merchant business in 1937,
he sought to offer eminently drinkable and enjoyable wines that reflect
a sense of place.

Today, his son Christian and his grandson Edouard carry forth that original vision with the same passion and dedication.
