Jean-Pierre Moueix arrived in Saint-Emilion in the 1930’s. He immediately realized the incredible potential of the Right Bank of Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol in particular, little known regions at the time.

The Merlot grape, when grown in the clay, limestone and gravel terroirs of his adopted region, produced wines that were delicious young and yet possessed an incredible aging capacity, improving over decades without losing their charm.

He founded his wine merchant business in 1937, sourcing the finest wines he could find, working with vineyard owners to distribute and promote their wines around the world.

Thanks to his flair for exceptional terroir, he devoted his career to the wines that he loved, producing some of the finest wines of Bordeaux along the way.
